Retro Gaming Night
Last Wednesday night (7th July) I was invited to a retro gaming night which was put on by the fantastic people from 1000heads (@1000heads).
There was a variety of consoles on offer for us to play with, there was a super Nintendo, N64, Wii, Xbox 360 and well as a wide variety of games on several different hand held devices such as the DS and N900 etc.
As well as great selection of games to play we were also spoilt with a plethora of food and drinks, but by far the best must be the cupcakes. As you can see they looked fantastic and created with the evening in mind, they tasted pretty nice too.
To start the evening and as the world cup is still on I kicked off the gaming with a nice game of football on the n64, and although getting off to a good start, @adonisdemon soon humbled me and I don’t want to publish the final score but I was well beaten in the end. As you can imagine with the n64 being around that the evening would not be complete with a Goldeneye session, which was great reliving the old classic.

The evening ended with out own sort of Mario Kart world cup if you like, with group stages first followed by the knockout stages, the eventual winner was @mattcopp you managed to win himself a Mario toy, with each of the finalists (@cbetta, @fauzg and @tomscott ) all collecting a small prize. I picked up a badge which tells the story of I did not do that well :-).
It was a fantastic night spent with other geeks, gamers etc with plenty of food, drink, good conversation as well as having the world cup game playing in the background, all in all you could not fault it, although there was some rumblings about Street Fighter not being available.
Hopefully there will be another evening shortly, next time I may even dust off my old 8-Bit NES system and take that along, nothing like a game of Duck hunt.
